The BASCA Scholarship at ACM

Celebrating 20 years as a world-class music educator, The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) has prepared generations of musicians, producers and innovators for sustainable careers in the music industry. Based in Guildford and London, the Academy has been built on a “learning by doing” ethos, providing an immersive, industry-based education. ACM offers study programmes at degree and diploma levels, with fully accredited courses validated by independent bodies including the QAA, with the most relevant connections to the real-world music industry at their core.

BASCA are pleased to support ACM by offering ‘The BASCA Scholarship’ to one student deemed to have outstanding talent as a songwriter. The scholarship will fully fund a songwriter’s journey through ACM’s 2-Year BA (Hons) Music Industry Practice programme.

2016

On Monday 15th August 2016, Tom Gortler was chosen as the winner of 2016’s BASCA Scholarship sponsored by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.

Tom was chosen from three finalists after performing in front of a select panel of industry judges at the annual BASCA Summer Party. Runners-up included talented students Anya Lang and Autumn Caveney who both gave impeccable performances and set the bar very high. Each finalist performed a song of their own creation and the competition was steep.
