British Composer Awards

British Composer Awards

The British Composer Awards are unique in making contemporary music, jazz and sonic art the focus of their annual celebration.

Created by BASCA in 2003, the Awards promote the art of composition, recognise the creative talent of contemporary composers and sound artists, and bring their music to a wider audience. They are sponsored by PRS for Music; in association with BBC Radio 3 providing exclusive broadcast coverage.

To qualify works must have been completed within five years of the award period and have received a UK premiere performance - either live or broadcast - in the year leading up to 31 March. Composers must have been born in the UK or resident for at least 5 years. The annual call for entries opens each May and closes in early July.

The 2016 British Composer Awards takes place on Tuesday 6 December at the BFI Southbank, London.

Gold Badge Awards

Gold Badge Awards

The BASCA Gold Badge Awards have been presented for over forty years and honour those who have worked tirelessly to support the British songwriting and composing community. They are an opportunity for the music writing community to come together and celebrate the achievements of an exceptional group of people who have made a unique contribution to the UK music industry.

The Ivor Novello Awards

The Ivor Novello Awards

The Ivor Novello Awards celebrate, honour and reward excellence in songwriting and composing. They are presented by BASCA in association with PRS for Music and judged by the writing community.

The Ivors reward excellence in works released in the UK within the awards year and the call for entries opens each December and closes the first week in February.

The awards also honour individuals with awards recognising their contribution to British Music. These awards are in the gift of BASCA’s Ivor Novello Awards Committee.
