BASCA and Bristol Music Industry Network (BMIN) are hosting a seminar to explore the funding options for composers.

Representatives from BASCA, PRS For Music FoundationArts Council EnglandMusicians Union and Help Musicians UK will advise attendees on the different funding opportunities available and what increases your chances on having your applications approved.

Topics covered will include:

*Writing a successful funding application
*Identifying what information the funders are looking for
*Identifying which funding opportunities best fit your project
*Putting together a project proposal including a clear and realistic budget
*Generating interests in supporting your project through social media
*Encouraging personal giving through donations philanthropy and crowd funding

About the panel

International composer, MD, Record Label director and BASCA Board director Issie Barratt, who has a 100% success rate in writing funding applications, will be reviewing the application process and what increases your chances on having your applications approved.

PRS for Music foundation is the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development across all genres. It has a range of funding programmes which are open to apply to all year round. Each with its own criteria for funding and application deadlines which will be explained by Joe Frankland.

Arts Council England invest money from the Government and the national Lottery to support arts and culture across England. Tina Speed will be present to talk about how and where they invest money.

The Musicians Union (MU) is a globally respected organisation which represents over 30,000 musicians working in all sectors of the music business. Andy Warnock, Regional Officer for Wales & South West England, will be able to discuss different opportunities for employment and creative participation.

Help Musicians UK is the leading UK charity for professional musicians of all genres, from starting out through to retirement. They have a career development bursary open for composers. Lucy Bampton will be on hand to discuss this and other funding streams that they are currently developing.
