Voting in the 2018 BASCA Board and Committee Elections

BASCA is run by its members – it is your organisation – and this is your chance to decide who will be representing your organisation for the next three years.

Professional and Standard BASCA members are invited to elect fellow BASCA members to represent them on our Genre Committees. This year, members are also able to elect 6 BASCA members directly to join the Board, who do not sit on a Genre Committee.

Members are invited to vote for:

6 representatives for the cross-genre BASCA Directly Elected Board places AND 12 representatives from a Genre Committee of their choice.

The BASCA Committees are genre-specialised (Jazz, Classical, Songwriter and Media), so we recommend that you vote for the one Committee that you feel best reflects your particular interests.

Please note: The Media Committee is uncontested

Only 12 candidates stood forward for the Media Committee, meaning that there will be no vote. All 12 candidates will automatically form the Media Committee.

The BASCA Board of Directors consists of:

6 Directly Elected Board Members (voted in by the membership)
2 Classical Representatives (chosen by the elected Classical Committee)
2 Media Representatives (chosen by the elected Media Committee)
2 Songwriter Representatives (chosen by the elected Songwriter Committee)
2 Jazz Representatives (chosen by the elected Jazz Committee)
2 Independent directors (non-members chosen by the Board)

How to vote

Electoral Reform Services (ERS) are hosting the BASCA voting site. Professional and Standard members will be emailed a unique link by Electoral Reform Services when voting opens on Wednesday 23rd of May. This unique link will give you instructions on how to cast your vote and will include information on the candidates.  If you are eligible to vote but haven’t received a voting email, please email elections@basca.org.uk. Voting closes on Wednesday 20th of June at 12 noon.

We will announce the results to the membership on the Monday 25th of June.

Useful Information

Who can vote in the elections?

Only Professional and Standard members can vote in the election. Professional members have 10 votes, and Standard members have 1 vote.

Where is my voting link?

You should receive your unique link and 2 security codes from onlinevoting@electoralreform.co.uk or through the post if we don’t have an email on file for you. If you are eligible to vote but haven’t received a voting email, please email elections@basca.org.uk.

I am a media composer – can I vote for another committee?

Yes, you can. After the BASCA AGM in December 2017, members voted to remove ‘genre’ memberships. This means that in the past, you might have signed up as a ‘media’ member, and were only able to vote for the media committee. Now, as a BASCA member, you can choose which committee to vote for. As the vote is uncontested this year, all 12 candidates will automatically form the Media Committee and will be announced alongside the Board and other Committees on Monday 25th June.
